Delete your account
You can delete your Moonflower account yourself, from inside the app, without asking us and without giving a reason.
In the app
- Open Profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Sign out & delete.
- Choose Delete account, and confirm.
The same screen offers a narrower option — Delete profile, which removes this app's profile and keeps the account — if that is what you meant.
If you no longer have the app
Write to privacy@moonflower.social and tell us the phone number the account uses. No form, and no reason needed.
We will check that the account is yours first. Deleting an account is permanent, and we are not willing to do it to someone on a stranger's say-so — so we will ask you to prove you hold the phone number on it, normally by confirming a code we send to it by text.
If you no longer have that number — often the very reason someone writes — we will ask for something else that ties you to the account: the receipt for a payment you made, or details of it that would not be obvious to anyone else. We ask for as little as will settle it, we use it only to answer your request, and we delete it afterwards. If we cannot establish that the account is yours, we will not delete it, and we will tell you so rather than leave you waiting.
Once we are satisfied, we delete it and confirm. We answer within one month of your request, and usually far sooner.
What deleting the account removes
- Your photos, on every app made by Alsanthea, and the profiles built from them.
- Your name, date of birth, bio, city and the rest of your profile.
- Any contacts you uploaded to be excluded from matching, and your calendar link.
- Your phone number is released, so the same number can start again from scratch as a new person.
- Every session and push registration, so no device keeps a way back in.
- Dates that have not happened yet are cancelled.
What stays, and why
People you have already met keep their own record of a date happening — that it took place, and what they decided afterwards. It carries no name, no photo and no contact details of yours: to them, the profile reads as unavailable. A shared date is two people's history, and we cannot rewrite someone else's.
Records we are required to keep — payments and the tax records around them — are kept for as long as the law requires, and no longer. The privacy notice sets out the detail.
Tokens and refunds
If you hold tokens you have paid for and have not used, write to help@moonflower.social before you delete the account. Deleting ends the account, and an ended account cannot be refunded to.
